Camera Lenses:
Prime Lens:
- A prime lens has only one focal length
- They take high quality photos but photographers tend to not use a prime lens due to the face it only has one focal length and you are unable to change this.
- It has a larger aperture
Wide Angle Lens:
- This lens allows photographers to take photos with a wide perspective
- This is a good lens to use for landscape shoots
- It can also be used to get close to a subject, but this may cause some distortion, however you can say it is a deliberate thing you wanted to do
Standard Lens:
Zoom Lens:
- Allows a photographer to have a wide range of focal length
- However, the longer the focal length, the more impact a camera shake will have on the images.
Fisheye Lens:
- This lens gives the same effect as a wide angle lens in the sense that you are able to get a lot in one image
- However a fisheye lens adds a curve to the image to get even more into the shot
- A macro lens is used for close-up photography e.g. flowers
- Limited depth of field
- Lighting can become difficult as the subject may be so close to the lens that not enough lights is able to get into the frame.
Equipment:
Beauty Dish:
- A beauty dish is a lighting device that uses reflector to distribute light towards a focal point.
- It is mainly used in fashion photography.
- The light created is between that of a direct flash and a softbox.
- This gives a dramatic effect and makes people look more beautiful.
Reflectors:
- Light reflectors bounce light back onto the subject.
- They can come in a variety of shapes a colours.
- They get rid of shadows.
- If the model holds a gold reflector under their chin, they will gain a slight glow where the shadow was before.
- They can be white, gold, black or silver
